What a day....

I knew that footy season would be hectic, but as ready as i was yesterday was just so tiring. Up with the birds to be at the footy club for work, dropping Josh of at Rhys's to get a lift to his game, leaving John and Dan getting ready at home to make the hour long drive to Caboolture for Dan's game. Left the club and drove to Josh's game at Calamvale got to see the first half of that game before I was back in the car driving to Springwood for Jay's game. Home at last at 3.30 and i just fell on the couch and stayed there until John got home around 5, didnt move very much for the rest of the night.
Today not up as early but still early for a Sunday, got John and Josh organised so they could get to the Gabba on time. John is sports trainer for Melbourne footy club today - he is thrilled he is getting more games this year - Josh and a mate are going to watch the game, will be watching on tv to see if we can see John out on the ground at all...

During the week I scrapped my little B-hind of and got all these done...

Paper Adventure - Something new
Clothes and shoes!! What girl doesnt need new ones lol

One Little Word - Grow
Had all these left over pictures of Josh from when he was a baby, so did a type of growth chart of him over the years.

Mystical Scrapbooks - colour challenge - blue, green, orange
This is my nephew who I miss terribly.

Mystical Scrapbooks - monthly challenge - boy layout using pink
For the record...Josh likes it lol

Mystical Scrapbooks - DT challenge - monochromatic
Will you just check out that boys hair.....i have spent hundreds of dollars at hairdressers over the years and his is all natural! So jealous!

Of to put my house in some sort of order and get some more scrapping done!

Midweek

Firstly I would like to thank you all for your kind comments about my MIL :)
Not much happens for me during the week, its pretty routine this time of year. So not alot to report, just a couple of layouts done for challenges at Mystical.

We dare you challenge - scrap a fight....my son and i fight all the time, this layout is all about how we both have volatile tempers.

Always remembered

7.1.39 - 21.4.07

You truly were an angel
sent from God in heaven above.
Your shocking death just broke the hearts of everyone you loved.
When I found out that you had died
I thought that they were wrong.
You were so alive - and then
just like that, you were gone.
A flame blown out in seconds,
Confirming our worst fears -
A light that shines no more on earth
for which we shed many tears.
But still you are my beacon
And I need you right now.
You hear all the prayers I say
Because they are answered somehow.
I wish that you could be here,
But in a way you are.
Your symbol of a rose goes everywhere with me,
so I know you can't be far.
It still is quite a shock to me
that you had to die;
But no one will forget you

We Love you Mum

First of many..

This weekend saw the first lot of football games and the first of many full on sport weekends. It all started Friday night with the final Auskick session, where the kids all received their certificates.
Saturday morning and up with the birdies to have John go of to work taking Daniel with him and Jay and myself head of to our home club. My first Saturday in the canteen and it proved pretty easy with only the one game (Jayden's).
Home and tried to get as much housework/scrapping done as we could before heading of to the Gabba for the Brisbane/Hawthorn game. Josh (huge Hawthorn fan) got to sit in the members area with Matt and Nicky and Chris (thanks guys). This was his first Hawthorn match that he has seen live and they won! He also got to go to the after match meet the players function, but was a little disappointed that his favourite player (Lance 'buddy' Franklin) wasn't there.
The rest of us were up in what John calls the 'nosebleed' seats, but it was a fantastic view..

Bus back to where we parked the car and the drive home made for a very late night (Josh came home later with Chris).
Sunday (today) wasnt as early a start, but saw John and Josh with 3 extra kids head of to Dan's game and Josh get picked up to be taken to his game. Jay and I stayed home (not happy about this but with one car not much can be done) I had a very productive afternoon getting all the housework + extra done and even scrapped a page!

Here are some layouts that I have done over the last week...

This is for Aussie Scrapjacked, a lift of Nic Howard's fantastic page!

This week Paper adventure asked us "what inspires you" for me it is lots of things, everything combined together inspire me to get out those photos papers and start cutting!

Whilst Mystical Scrapbooks has been suffering the last week or so with the hackers having a field day with their servers Ive still been working on the challenges for April, this one is for the Potion commotion challenge - Pixies

This one is for the sketch challenge (sketch by Sara) and ive also submitted it for the Stuck challenge as well (same sketch done by Sara).

Hope you all had a great weekend

motivation galore

The motivation i've had lately is amazing, its been full on creating at my little scrap desk, loving it!!
Its Rock your blog time again at Mystical.
Share a layout on your blog. Tell us why you did it and what products you used.

How easy is that!! I have 4 layouts to share with you today, all from challenges at Mystical.

Colour challenge, use only blue, green and purple. The pp is Reminisce, I painted the lace to the colour I needed then added random flowers and gems. Title is from Kaiser rubons.

Use your scraps challenge - Felt, we had to use 2 different types. I have used Queen & Co stars, fozz felt stars which i cut up and painted and plain felt with a stamped sheep, which I found on one of my thrift store hunts. Title is also Queen & Co.

The sketch challenge, awesome sketch provided by Susan. I have adapted it to suit the smaller page and used A to Z papers.

Potion Commotion challenge, this week it was dragons!
Dragon Spell:
Add a breathe of fire
mix in a pinch of invisibility
fold in 3 dragons tails
And sacrifice a maiden
Layout Criteria:
Use red, orange or yellow
Transparency
3 arrows

Papers are all no name ones, title is from Cosmo Cricket Get Happy papers, added brads and sequins and journal locks using 7gypsies stamp.

A worthy cause!!

The gorgeous Deanne, is organising a fundraiser for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

This will be a scrapbooking event, and will have some local "celebrity" scrappers, maybe some classes, prizes, raffles etc. All proceeds will be donated for research to find a cure for this killer disease.

This is what Dee has to say about why she is doing this wonderful thing.....

My main reason for doing this, is because my mother in law was very recently
diagnosed with breast cancer, and is due to start chemo in 4 days time.

We have already received some wonderful support from beautiful caring people and businesses for this event and look forward to much much more.

You can check out more details HERE on the blog about the event. If you would like to donate or help out in anywhere please please please feel free to email myself skippiechick@hotmail.com or Dee at deeza07@hotmail.com

Come on girls get behind us and this worthwhile cause!!

Happy Birthday Josh

A huge happy birthday to my boy Josh who turned 15 today!!
How did he get so big so fast (and i mean big, he is taller than me and weighs more).
He got very spoilt with presents from family and had a great morning.

We had this big day planed with 20 invites sent out for a party in the park. We got 16 rsvp's organised music, food, drinks and lots of sports equipment.....then this morning....it rained...and rained ...and kept on raining....
So.... they all came to our place (yep im insane) 16 teenagers in my house, for 3.5 hours...
Believe it or not, they were pretty good, not as nosiy as I though they were be and all well behaved.
He had this huge big sponge cake (no Tam I didnt make it) thank you Jason for making this for me and delivering it.

And surprise surprise, they all posed for a group shot for me!! I go a few, these boys who normally run at the mere mention of a photo were keen to perform for me, who was I to say no lol

All in all it ended up being a good day, my house looks like a bomb went of but tomorrow is another day.

Happy birthday Josh, love ya ratbag!

Looking Forward

Paper Adventure prompt this week is Looking forward, what are you looknig forward to this month. For me it is football, as much as I really don't like the early mornings every weekend and the rushing around being in 3 different places at the same time, I wouldnt have it any other way. Ilove that the boys are out in the fresh air and active, and its a big social event for me lol I have made so many friends through football, and its always good to spend time with them.

This layout really did my head in, its for the new Potion commotion challenge at Mystical. This week it is Fairies.... Now a girl layout is not my usual scrap subject but fairies and glitter and I had just had it with this one by the end. I do love how it turned out though.

This one was way more my style, for the Monday mojo challenge also at Mystical where we try out new (and old) techniques every week. This week, altering chipboard with napkins. I used tissue paper under the napkin to add texture to the tree.

If you are looking for something to do this weekend head on over to Mystical Scrapbooks, they have a cyber crop starting at 7pm tonight! Always lots of fun and awesome challenges.

Have a great weekend

Cheers

A new month

April already, before we know it, it will be christmas again!
A new month brings new challenges and lots more creating.

This month I did up this "Boystuff" mini album for the portal at Scraptastic South West. Head on over and check out the awesome monthly mojo challenge with Natasha and the alpha challenge with Angie, have the chance to win a gift voucher!

I am not so good at making cards, but with one of Tams sketches how can you go wrong!
This one is for her current card challenge at mystical.

The We dare you challenge at Mystical this weeks is Guilty pleasures. It took me a long while to decide to go ahead with this layout, I was unsure as to how it would be perceived and the reactions, in the end I decided that I am who I am and thats what I need to scrap.
The journaling reads....
Yes Ive seen all the tv ads, yes I read all the warnings and see the nasty pictures on the packets, yes I understand how bad it is for my health and what it is doing to my body and Yes I still choose to smoke...
it is my one guilty pleasure...
There are so many reasons why I should give up this habit but still I choose not to. Why? Some days I really just enjoy that time out with a ciggy and the calming affect it seems to have on me when things get stressful.

Blessed

Is the prompt for One little word this week.
Was really unsure as to what to do for this word, of course there are lots of things that I am lucky enough to be blessed with in my life, it was just hard to choose which one to go with.
After reading a post on Lusi's blog the other day it got me to thinking about all the wonderful people I have met through the scrapbooking community online and how they have all touched my life in some way.
I did this page as a tribute to all of you out there that I have met via the web, be it forums, blogs, challenges, whatever. The emails, msn chats, forum chats, blog and gallery comments all mean the world to be and add a tiny bit of sunshine to my every day.
Thank you :)

Cheers
