Just popping in to share another of my art journal pages from my messy session last week. This started as something completely different, I didnt like where it was going so more paints and papers and it started to take shape.
I had cut out the girly shape from a butter ad in a magazine ages ago and when I found the sticker "Beauty is everywhere" I found my groove and knew what I wanted the page to be.
Lots of bits and pieces, napkins, rubons, stamps, papers, washi tape and paint and I was done! Creating in my journal helps me destress and get my mojo back for more structured creating.
I'll have a couple more pages to share soon.

Art Journal
Over the last few months I have been doing so much crochet, which I love doing, but I just needed a break. Needed to play with paper and get my hands messy a little. I had no inspiration to scrapbook so I grabbed my art journal, paints, glue, papers and stamps and just started playing.
It was just what I needed, no pressure to get anything right, no worry about did it all match or suit the photo, just fun messy creative fun!
I was inspired that much that I did two pages and prepped another couple, all of which I will share when they are complete.
What do you do to get inspired and motivated to keep creating?

Art journal update
I took some time out last week to get messy and just play in my art journal. It really is therapeutic and gets the creative motivation happening.
Lots of layers with paints and stencils, shapes, inks and stickers and just letting the page make itself. Most of the time I start out with a goal in mine but end up with a totally different result. Love this quote by Rachel Ann Nunes.
This second one was lots of layers of tissue paper and vintage sewing patterns, throw on some gesso, inks and a few rubons and finish with an image from a old Kasazz stamp catalogue and some water colour and it was done.
After creating these two pages I'm determined to take a little time each month to put aside the photos and scrapbooking and the crochet and just let loose and get messy.

Messy art journal pages
Just popping in to share another couple of pages from my art journal. This first one started out as something completely different but as I worked on and added layers it changed a few times till I was happy with it. I love using pieces from old magazines on my pages, the eye and mouth were the perfect touch.
This second one also started out with a different vision, using lots of paint layers and napkins with a few rubons.

Messy art journal creating
Last week I was sorting out all my paints and stencils keeping my mind occupied in what had been a pretty yucky week. The urge to create something messy hit so I went with it.
Nothing in particular just what spilled out onto the pages at the time. Felt good to just be carefree and messy again.

Messy Art journal play
Playing and getting messy in my art journals is one of favourite ways to be creative. I can just let things happen, try out new ideas and if I don't like how it's turning out I just cover it up with something else.
They are a good way of testing out ideas for scrapbook layouts or mixed media canvas art or just expressing how I'm feeling.
These are a few that I've done in the last few months using acrylic paints, napkins and vintage patterns.
If anyone knows of any art journal challenge sites please leave m the links in the comments.
Thanks for stopping by.

Let words Inspire you
These are the final two pages for this year, my plans are to try and get not only the prompts done monthly but a page done in my other journal at least monthly. Id like to try for weekly but thinking that might be a bit of a stretch.
Inspire - a word that has so many posibillities. I had just been given a whole heaps of empty containers and lids etc before starting this page, all those circles just spoke to me.
It Always seems impossible until its done is not only a quote that I can relate to but its one my boys have dealt with lately too. Stubborness and impatience are something I see alot of here so teaching them to persevere and then see their satisfaction in the end result puts a smile on this mumma'a face.
Im looking for other art journal sites to play along with in 2014 so if you know of any then please leave me some links.

Dance like no one is watching!
Wow, I didnt realise it had been so long since I had posted, almost 2 months! I dont think I have ever gone that long with no posts before.
The end of footy season just gets crazy around here and with us being in finals this year was even more so-more on that later though.
I have so many things I need(want) to post about, so there should be a big run of regular posts over the next few weeks.
I have gotten right back into creating again too, I even scrapped a few pages!! My art journal is continuing to grow and its the one thing I have been constant with (even though I never get them photographed and uploaded intime to enter the challenge haha).
Bird is the Word is my go to place for inspiration for my art journal. The word challenges they put up are perfect!
Dance is the current word and I had only recently cut out a picture from a magazine that was perfect for this prompt!
I got out my paints and stamps, some more magazine cutouts and washi tape and started creating. Pretty happy with how it turned out!

Courage doesnt always roar
During the cold winter months I dont seem to get into my craft room very much, its so much warmer sitting upstairs with my crochet than downstairs next to the drafty garage.
I did get a chance to pull out my art journal this week and get a little messy and arty playing along with Bird is the Word prompt "Courage".
I combined my favourites at the moment of drawing and painting into this colourful page, I even got out a few of my stamps - that havent been used in way too long- was fun and it needs to hurry and warm up so i get back to playing creatively. I miss it!

Keeping a Journal
For years I use to keep a journal, writing all about anything that happened in my day, wanting to have a record of my life in some way. It got to the point where I was writing the same thing every day (not a very exciting life) and was becomming more of a chore to write in it than something I enjoyed.
I still wanted to record everything in some way but knew that a daily basis wouldnt work anymore. Anyone that knows me (or reads this blog alot) knows that I love my art journaling, so I decided to combine the two and make a visual calender journal. That was 2 years ago now.
I brought myself an A4 visual diary and made some notes from my diary and away I went creating. Two years on and my journal is filling nicely with pretty/arty journal pages or our months.
So that brings me to my latest two pages, December of last year and January this year.
Its fun to look back at previous months and see how my art style changes from month to month depending on how I feel (or what I have available to use).
Keeping a journal this way ive noticed that this one journal that im using since January 2011 and still not half way through yet takes up alot less room than my older daily journals or the calenders of each year that I used to keep.

Whisper
I got messy again with my first art journal page for the year! Following along with the prompts at Bird is the word is filling my journal up with some awesome colourful pages.
This time the word is "Whisper" found a perfect picture in an old magazine and added some paints and mists until I was happy with how it looked.
Finished it of with some tiny alpha stickers and a thrifted set of stamps.

Visual Journaling
Catching up on my visual journaling, as you can see from the collage below its been awhile since I shared.
So heres a little peek at September to November.
When I first started doing this journal I was a little OCD about each page being diffferent (so not sure where that comes from) but im into my 2nd year of the journal and now it bothers me less. Its all about getting the stories down on paper now.

Bird is the Word - Spring
My favourite time of year is Spring, the cold is disappearing but it hasnt gotten too hot yet. New life and sounds and colours are everywhere.
My art journal is quickly filling with lots of messy colourful pages courtesy of Bird is the word challenge prompts.
I have another one to share with you today, this time the word as you may of already guessed is SPRING...
Used some pretty napkins on my page this time around!

I have so many blog posts that I need to do to catch up with everything before the christmas season drops in on us, may even have to do a couple a day. I want to have everything shared before the end of the year if I can so that next year can start of fresh and organised!
Wish me luck lol

Go where the music takes you
As I mentioned in this post, I would be back to share my next art journal page for Bird is the Word. This time the word was MUSIC.
This one took a little longer to get done as I had to wait for all the layers of paint to dry.

I grabbed a kit at the weekend and sat down to scrap will share as soon as I get some photos. I also have some thrift store finds to share this week.

Recording the Stories
I love writing, not a novel (although maybe one day) or anything to intense. I have always kept a journal of somesort where I record all the daily bits and pieces going on, thoughts and ideas and dreams. This has spilled over into my art journalling and scrapbooking.
The next challenge at Bird is the word was perfect, create a page using the word "STORY" or "STORIES".
I immediately knew what I wanted to do, so grabbing my paints and pens and a few bits and pieces I created this art journal page all about my love or writing and recording the stories.
Want to play along ? Head on over the BITW blog and check out the challenge, while your there have a browse through the inspiring DT creations.
I will be back tomorrow with an update on how Im going with the September Sort it challenge.

Let there be Peace!
The next page in my Bird is the Word art journal. This time the challenge word was PEACE. I thought a bit about this once, there were lots of ways I could of gone. The boys that day were having a decidedly off day so I thought I would do a bit of a fun page.
Using the peace symbol and a mock up of me upside down pulling my hair out surrounded by the boys lol

The next challenge is already up on the blog and ive started on that so will be back to share that one soon.
