Lunar eclipse and balance

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Day 30

Tuesday night John and the boys stood out on the balcony for over an hour watching the lunar eclipse, Jay was enthralled. Our camera really didn't catch how beautiful it was, and the cloud cover wasnt good either. Just a couple of the better shots that John got..

Not anything that interesting happening this week, just the normal family stuff, Dan is still training as his team made it to the semi finals, presentation night and gifts to sort out which is stressing me a little but its all good.

Havent scrapped much this week at all , but I managed to get the One Little Word challenge done.
The word this time around is 'Balance'
I struggle on a daily basis to balance out all the things going on in our lives. I decided to have a bit of fun with this layout and went with the scale approach (hubby worked in the scale industry for 9 years so seemed appropriate lol)

Busy few days comming up, Daniel's 12th birthday tomorrow, then football final Saturday morning , then fathers day on Sunday..

Have a great night

Tuesday treats

Day 28

Daily blogging seems to have turned into every second day lol but thats ok im good with that.
Yesterday I raced around getting fathers day presents and post packs and making cards to get the packages sent down to Tassie in time for this Sunday. Why does this day always seem to creep up on me so quickly. Every year I plan on being organised, but never am.
Still have to get John something yet..have to get the boys to put their thinking caps on (ask dad what he wants).
Have done a little scrapping over the last couple of days nothing huge just a couple of things.

This one for the Get real challenge over at Cyberscraps, 'scrap your wheels'. My wheels are not flash or new but they get me where I need to go (as long as its not to far away lol)

Funny ha ha is the prompt this week for the Deck of Me art journal cards. What makes you laugh.
Lots of things make me laugh, too many to list, but always without doubt one of the 4 awesome males I live with (dh and sons) manage to have me laughing on a regular basis.

If your wandering around the big wide web with nothing to do or looking for somewhere to hang and meet some new people, head on over to Scraptastic Sout West. A new shop with forum and gallery that Taryn has started.Go on over say hi and wish her luck!

What a few days..

Day 2

Its been a couple of days since my last post, but those few days have been action packed.
Friday I spent the day with Donna.
We had a great day out as we always do, shopping, lots of laughs (the funniest part being our exit of Mcd's after coffee lol).
I seriously am so lucky to have the friendship of this awesome woman, and im not just saying this because she gives me pressies lol.
But..she did give me these awesome buttons on Friday, arent they just the most awesome buttons you have ever seen!!! Thanks honey, love ya :)

Friday was a double gift day, with my prize from Heike arriving, a Basic Grey 6x6 Scarlets Letter paper pad!! How lucky am I!! Thanks hon :)

Yesterday we were up with the sun to get packed up and out to Calamvale for Daniels football elimination final. It was rainy and the ground was a huge big mud pile. The game was not the most skillfull game they have ever played, but they WON!! Go team. They looked like they had been mud wrestling at the end of the game lol, but all were very happy.
We stayed on and supported the under 16's in their game, alas they werent as lucky and lost.
Daniel went of to Dylan's and Josh to Chris's for sleepovers (poor Loretta had to clean Daniel up as well as her son).
So it was just me John and Jayden at home last night, we had pizza for dinner, watched some tv and for the first time in I dont know how long we were in bed by 10pm!
Today has been very quiet, Josh's football game got cancelled due to the ground they were supposed to play on was under water. Got caught up on housework not done yesterday, playing with Jayden (the other two not home yet) and generally lazing around doing nothing...a perfect Sunday..

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Rain, rain and more rain

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
day 23

Finally its raining, not just a sprinkling that doesnt get you wet, not just a 30 mintuie downpour that runs away and doesnt soak into the ground. Lots and lots of rain, all week it has been raining. It is wonderful we need it so much.

Tomorrow is Daffodil day, I got my daffodil pin today I urge you all to buy one of the cute little gifts that are on offer this year to help out such a worthy cause.

Being stuck inside does have its advantages, I got some scrapping done!
Just a couple for challenges at KSK.
This one to journal an unexpected turn or event in your life. Not sure if the journaling is readable but its all about when my mum had her stroke and my feelings and how I dealt with it all.

This one to digitally alter a photo.

10 minutes

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Day 21

Sunday, winter came back in full force, it was cold and wet (we need the rain though) and certainly not a day to be at football. Josh's team finally had a win though, so it wasnt all bad.

The Deck of me prompt this week is '10 minutes' Set the timer and just create for 10 minutes. So the timer got set and I challenged myself to only use what was on my desk. This is the outcome, I like it!

The sketch this time around on Sketches Aussie style was by the talented Ngaire Bartlam. This is my version of her sketch.

Finally these last two are for challenges on KSK.
Scrap those silly photos. No shortage of those around here with a teenager in the house lol

Document a day in your life, well most of my weekdays are exactly the same(yes i lead a sad life lol) so this is the story of my days...

More layouts to come over he next couple of days, 'IF' I manage to get the rest of the August challenges done in time.

Kathryn, Ngaire and Tessa, I am working on your gifts and will get them out to you very soon!

Sports day

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Day 18

Yesterday was the boys sports day. I went along and cheered along with the rest of the parents. I was pleased to hear the principal make mention of the fact that the day was all about taking part and team efforts. It was a great day, with lots of sportsmanship shown by everyone.
The boys did well in their events and their house team ended up winning the trophy.
These are a few shots from the day.

Got a layout done a couple of days ago for the challenge at Collective Creative.

Got a busy day ahead tomorrow with Josh playing football in the morning then a family fun day that John's work is putting on. Hope to get lots of photos.

Hope your weekend is going well.

123 and tagged

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Day 15

Another holiday for the kids today, hubby was great and got up with them and let me sleep in!! Took the boys to see the new Simpsons movie this afternoon, got the thumbs up from them all, except Josh said it didnt go for long enough lol.
got the sewwing machine out today to hem up a pair of shorts, so while it was out I made one of those bag thingys to hold plastic bags for my friend Lynnie and then sewwed on a layout.

This layout..its for the August 123 challenge. Use green fabric, stitching and something 12 months old. The green is obvious lol I machine stitched around the edge of the CS and around the cream fabrci and handstitched along the green fabric. The bling, which came from an old necklace is around 3 years old.

I've been tagged...
Thanks Maggie

1-Post these rules.
2-Each person tagged must post 8 random (... hopefully interesting) facts about themselves.
3-Taggees should write a blogpost of these facts.
4- At the end of the post 8 more bloggers are tagged and named and released back into the wild.
5-Go to their blog and leave a comment telling them they're tagged*.

so here goes....

1. I am terrified of mice and rats. Absolutely can not stand them. My MIL once chased me around the front lawn of her place with a dead one lol.

2. I am a prolific list maker, I have them everywhere, my scrap room, the kitchen, lounge, bedroom, in my handbag. If it needs to be done it will be n a list somewhere.

3. I hate to be late for anything. I will leave early just to make sure I get there on time. Like Friday night we were at football half an hour too early, just so that I wouldnt be late lol.

4. I bite my finger nails. I always have and just cant seem to stop myself from doing it. I even tried to cut and file them, which worked for awhile then i went back to the biting.

5. I remember postcodes from all over Australia. Ever since I worked in a mailroom, if ive seen the postcode I remember it.

6. Everyone thinks I have blue eyes, and if you look at me you would to. But I dont, I have hazel eyes, I wear tinted contact lenses!

7. I was in girl guides and boy scouts. Went from a brownie right through the ranks to Rangers, and also joined Rovers when I was 18.

8. I have huge feet, a size 10 it is so hard to get 'nice' shoes to fit.

Now because im lazy and blogger is being so slow, im going to be slack and not tag anyone, just tag everyone who reads this and wants to have a go :)

Cheers

Packed full of goodness...

Day 14

Firstly have to say a big CONGRATS to Deb and Jason and the kids on the arrival of a little baby daughter and sister. Kayleigh Tanisha arrived yesterday afternoon and is just beautiful. This was taken of her at 5 hours old.

Quiet time, in this house lol yeah right!
This is the prompt for week 32 of Deck of me. No such thing as quiet time in a house filled with boys lol.

One little word prompt for the week is SEEK . Took me ages to come up with an idea for this one, but reasonably happy with the way it turned out. Thinking scalloped edges have become my new best friend lately too lol.

The next two layouts are for challenges at KSK.
The two awesome ladies in this layout are Karen the owner of KSK and Sally who I met on my trip to Tassie earlier in the year, so glad i got the chance to meet them both.

The journaling on this one is about the bond between Josh and his cousin, and how his tough boy image goes out the window whenever he is around her.His love for her is just beautiful to watch.

PAY IT FORWARD

Tess, Kathryn and Ngaire you are the lucky (or not) girls to get a handmade gift from me. Kathryn and Ngaire I already have your addys. Tess could you please email me your snail mail addy. I will get these gifts made asap and out to you all.

Pay it forward and other stuff

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Day 13

I knew that I was going to have trouble this month in blogging daily and I was right. It isnt that I had nothing to post about, just that August is a busy month, and we are spending alot more family time together lately.

You may have seen around the blog world the Pay it forward idea. I have joined the masses, getting a gift from the gorgeous Tam! So my turn to pay it forward.
The first 3 people to comment on this post will recieve a handmade gift from me! But you have to keep it going forward, so you will need to post it on your blog too!

Have you been and had a look at Collective Creative this month yet, if not do it NOW! the next challenge is up and its a fun one! Donna gives out the most AWESOME prizes so go along and join in the fun!

The challenge at Scrap your Scraps this week has been set by Kathryn, check it out and have a go, who doesnt want to use up all those scraps. Makes lots of room for new stuff!!
This is my take on the challenge.

Over at Aussie scrapjacked this month they are jacking the talented Jill Geraghty-Groves.
This is my version of her layout.
Just love this photo of my little cousin!

Promise to be back tomorrow with some more layouts!

No regrets

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Day 7

Sickness is slowly working its way out of my house. Dan is almost better as am I, Josh and John are sick still but on the mend. Jay has it to now, but no where near as bad as everyone else had it, he usually doesnt get colds or flu very often or for long, so fingers crossed.

Week 31 of Emily's card challenge is 'No Regrets' - interpret any way you wish.
Soon as I read this I thought of Our move from Tassie to Brisbane. As hard and scary as it was to move away from family and friends to somewhere we knew no one, We have absolutely no regrets.

I had a visitor today, but alas being the sicky I am, I was sleeping when she come, but hubby was here to receive this awesome bundle of ribbons from Donna!!!
My prize for being runner up at Collective Creative last month.
LOVE them girl (so did Jay, have to hide them lol) Thank you!

Time for sleep.

It is going to be over soon isnt it...

Moving along to nicer things.
Housebound has given me some time to get creative. A couple of layouts to share today.

Friday friendly

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Day 3

Isnt it just the nicest feeling to have great friends, even better when one of those friends shares your passion for scrapping!!
Donna and I spent the morning together shopping!! 2 different scrap stores - I was good and didnt spend all that much (dont need to lately with the challenge wins and raks ive had).
I t was really nice just to spend time with her and chat (did we ever lol).

We had planed on a full day of it, till it was cut short with a phone call from the high school, Josh was really sick and I had to get him. Poor guy got home and went to bed.
John suggested tonight that him and Jayden move into a hotel for a while lol. They are the only two in the house not sick. Yep I too have come down with it as well, a given really for mums to get sick when there kids do.

Not really alot else to say tonight, so will leave it at that.

Cheers

I still remember how!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Day 1

To scrapbook that is...it had been so long since i last scrapped a page that I was a little worried lol. But once I started it all just came to me!

This first one is for One little word challenge, the word this week 'Automatic' flipping through my photos I found this one of my teenage son, his first reaction every time I try to get a photo is to automatically put his hand over his face!

This one is for the Sketches Aussie style, my version of Mel Diener's sketch.

Lastly, this is for the KSK scrapjack. My attempt to lift the fantastic page of Donna Hooper.

I was thrilled this morning to find out I had won runner up prize over at Collective Creative for the stitching challenge!!
Thank you so much Donna :)
If you havent checked this challenge blog out, do so, the next challenge will be up in a few days. They also showcase some wonderful Aussie talent, so go check it out!
