DIY Smash book

One of the latest things around the last few months has been the Smash book, it reminds me alot of the old school scrapbooking, where you just stuck anything you liked including photos and maybe some writing into one of those large paper scrapbooks that kids use at school these days.
Being a huge art journal fan, the smash book caught my interest, another form of creating is always good I say. Browsing around the net looking at all the amazing smash books and ideas I was inspired to try and make my own. I started grabbing all sorts of different papers (ya know the ones in that huge scrapbooking stash haha) and cutting them to the size I wanted. I thrifted a hardcover book to use as the cover and added some washi tape.

The next step  had me puzzled for a long time. How to bind the pages together ? I didnt own any type of binding machine and didnt just want to go with rings. Eventually I got the idea to use a coil type binding which was not easy to put together at first, but think it looks great with the contrast colour too.

The cover isnt perfect but I kinda like that about it a little flawed like me haha. Some of the pages inside are plain and some have journaling lines, others are printed and some have cute illustrations, just a huge mix of different papers.

Not entirely sure what I will use it for as yet, but pretty impressed with the outcome. I may even make another one, next time though I will use the binding machine hubby got for me (story about that comming soon).

Have you joined the Smash craze or have you attempted to make your own ? Would love to see what you have done.

Thanks for stopping by
Lis :)
